It is self sabotage to do otherwise. And nonsense to think anyone can outwit the likes of Google. By adopting techniques that will not yield the desired long term results.

Before we set out I would like to note…that I am not going to handle the subject of Site Optimization here.

Press on shall we?

All roads lead to Rome. Whether on or offline all businesses need access to traffic. Access to prospective customers, as customers are the lifeblood of every business!

But before we proceed I must make myself perfectly clear.

We must accept the fact that even though we may be passionate and knowledgeable about a subject. That this alone is not enough to make of it a profitable business. Some wonderful subjects make excellent reading; are often quite informative and useful, and are an excellent form of expression, like a journal or diary, and as such are a personal indulgence. Now we are presented with a dilemma. A double edged sword. The double edged sword of Business and Pleasure. That cuts through tradition and myth. I assure you, that this sword, does in a manner of speaking – exist.

Now. Although the original idea for your niche may on the surface seem lax. Your “niche”. Your gold, will be found in a vein somewhere deeper within that original idea, or from somewhere just outside of it. This makes the discovery of your niche a very personal and exciting one! The niche within a niche. Your “theme”.

All roads do lead to Rome! Get it? Good.

Find the gold and the miners will come!

Fact. Literally Billions of dollars and countless number of man hours a year are spent by search engine companies, which really means the advertisers and their customers, to get your business. The bottom line is that search engines are on the side of Content Providers. Who in turn need to be onside with their audience.

Own your niche. So you can give of it freely.

This fact is of paramount significance. Especially in the paradigm of Internet Marketing. Your success depends upon your authentic presence as a Content Provider. In other words you must gain your visitor’s trust!
The way to communicate this trust is to deliver beyond expectation. Simply by being yourself. Your best self! This is what will remind people of the basic goodness within themselves. Also known as alignment.

Now. Some people may say that my proposition is manipulative. I disagree. People are not stupid…they will spot your undoing as sure as the sun shines! It is all about supply on demand. The Sun is always there…supporting life on earth as we know it. It is this sense of consistency that radiates the confidence we are attracted to. Be that dependable. Take the effort to refine your knowledge of your niche. Know the benefits and joy of doing good work. Because fear can not exist in a world empowered by dependable and relevant information. Knowing this…executing the order of business without attachment and simply doing the things that work. By eliminating failure…you will most definitely produce content that will satisfy both you and your target audience. Also known as producing the goods.

Why most websites never get noticed…

The Website Conundrum.

Let’s assume that you have just decided to place your business at a typical, old-fashioned Web host (ex., Yahoo!, 1&1, etc.). Let’s follow your progress.

First, why would you make this decision? It won’t be due to overwhelming proof of success. There is none. Nor will you find a Family Bulletin Board…they only take pride in financial statements (theirs). No, more than likely, you accepted the lure of cheap (even free!), quick, easy “business hosting.”

Soon, though, you realize you are spinning your wheels. You need to upgrade to their “Premium Package”. You buy two key add-on modules (yes, in addition to the Premium Package, at an additional monthly cost). And you have to hire a Webmaster to help you coordinate all this, as well as customize one of the programs that “came free” with your hosting.

In a few months, you’re spending an hour or two per day researching the Web to “keep up” and trying to figure out how to build traffic. You’re reading several Net marketing e-zines, worrying about technical and Search Engine issues (two of the Search Engine zines…yet another yearly subscription and another cost). And you’re buying more and more expensive third-party software, on the excited say-so of this expert or that.

All roads lead to Rome. Let me rephrase that… What I meant to say…Is this. Picture a tree! A Bodhi tree. Look upon the Bodhi tree as if it were the “Tree Of Knowledge”. And in that tree lives various species of spiders. All with their specialized environments and specific survival needs. My point here is that some of us look upon the internet as if it were a single foreboding entity. This is not the case. The World Wide Web is one of a multitude of webs that reside in it’s host…the “Tree Of Knowledge”. Reflecting the highest qualities in human nature and is therefore part of our evolutionary process. Yes. Webs need a home too!

We need to digress for a moment.

Webs, like everything else in nature, respond to their environment. You’ll agree that no two webs are the same. The tree itself has it’s place in the realm of possibility. Each web, like a well strung harp, plays an individual harmony which the tree responds to. So it goes…

The Internet was created, designed and implemented by us, for us, with good intention in mind. May it remain that way. It is also maintained…continually developed and upgraded by us too. It is a testimony to our imaginative tool making ability.

At present my propositions are these…

. The greatest appeal of the Internet are the elements of anonymity and control.

. The Internet fulfills the content on demand need effectively and efficiently. It is perfect for it.

. We choose the content we want and in that is the agreement to participate.

. As a vehicle for the exchange and transfer of data and digital media the Internet has no rival.

. The Internet is a powerful resource with potential we are just beginning to realize.

. As a powerful resource we can utilize this potential towards our best aims.

Take the middle path. Take the road less traveled…
